Mercedes CLK320 A209 (2006)
Hi all,
I bought a 2006 W209 CLK convertible just after Christmas with a few issues. I've resolved most of them with the help of this forum (thanks to all previous posters btw) - a biggy (for me) being the alarm siren shorting out and effectively disabling the remote central locking and radio, but one issue is still bugging me.

Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere, but whenever I use the search option all I get is server error 500 :dk:

The driver's side door lock was spinning with the key, basically doing nothing. I got a second hand one from ebay an,d keen to keep the same tumblers so I wouldn't need a different key, I stripped both locks, found the offending broken plastic parts inside the barrel and replaced them with working ones from the ebay part. The lock works beautifully now - at least off the car. When I put it back on the car it still does not lock or unlock the car. I'm guessing the bar at the back of the barrel is missing its target when I put it back into the door. Hope this is clear, any ideas or hints or how to resolve this?

Sorted it. The trick is to keep the cable from the IR sensor out of the way. It has a tendency to curl up and obstruct the slot the bar goes into. I used a small screwdriver through one of the door trim holes to gently push it down as I was reinserting the barrel and it slotted straight in. I now have a fully functioning door lock again.

So far I've fixed the following on the car I've had 2 months:
Driver's door lock
Remote central locking/radio reception
Buckled wheel
Broken glove box door catch

What else I have got to look forward to going wrong?
