Hi guys,

Was seeing if anyone could shed a light (excuse the pun) on this problem - I've got a 2003 CLK 55 AMG. When driving the car the other day i noticed the lights on the instrument cluster were not working..this was during early evening so put it down to the auto lights being not sensitive enough until i used the car later that night - the needles light up but no 'glow' type lighting around the speedo etc.

I have searched to see if a common fault and did find on a US Mb forum that a guy had the same problem and it was down to low battery voltage...anyone heard of this???

Also the following day the analogue clocked decided to stop

I would advice you to buy cool white W211 avangrade Instrument cluster and install it into your IC housing and then into your car i've done that on my cls looks gorgeous . But if you want to fix it that would be very easy if the problem is what I think. Take out your IC then take apart front housing and look on the right down side of the clock there is a little clip that holds the faceplate into place and also it makes it to light those clips brake sometimes if that clip does not holds it tight because that clip connects it to the power to light take a little piece of paper and open that clip put it inside the clip and then close it so it would sit tight I am also attaching photo that show there is that clip located on IC it is a very little clip and you can't say wether it holds it tight or not with just looking at it. I connected my IC to the car without front housing and turned on the lights and I pressed with fingers on that clip and then it lighted without pressing it did not lighted or glowed. I hope this helps and sorry for my bad engilsh:D:D:D

MB500, thank you for your advice. Think I will stick with the IC i have due to it being a AMG model with the AMG logo on the rev counter (dont really want to loss that)

Ill take the IC out and have a play with the connector you mentioned...Cheers!!

Solved - The problem with the instrument cluster was due to low battery voltage making the car do a few strange things. If anyone else gets the same problem, before you start replacing parts just try giving your battery a good old charge
