I have owned my car since late November 2011.
When I picked it up I noticed that it had near enough brand new front brake pads and discs... The only issue is they squeak and not a little bit but a LOT.
When going at normal speed they are fine however at low speeds they sound like a bus or lorry when breaking however the breaks do work fine.

Is there any way to cure this issue considering that they look new or is it a case of buying a new genuine set of front pads and disc?

I know it is not affecting their performance however I find it really annoying!

Hi!

It could be many things, the cheapest (and hopefully the cause) is dirt trapped behind the pad, due to poor fitting (it sounds like they were recently fitted before you took the car)

All that would hopefully be needed it to remove the pads, clean them up and refit with a small amount of Cera Tec to avoid squealing.

Hope this helps

Thanks Patrick I will get some Cera Tec and get the pads and discs re-assembled to see if it solves the issue :)

Hopefully it does.

Its really easy to say 'fit new brakes' however let's start with the easy (and chraper) options first.

While your there, have a look at the condition of the pads and discs alike.

Let us know how you get on.

Thanks Patrick.

I've look at the website and think I will the Cera Tec lube for the discs and also get some calliper cleaner them them a good clean and then use some copper compound on the back on the pads.

I'll get it booked in a garage and get them to do the work and let you know how I get on.

Hi Patrick,

Massive thanks mate great service at Euro Car Parts!

You should really use CERA-TEC but thats the next best thing :-)

Glad we could help, and you solved the problem for the grand sum of £3.59 :thumb:

I did buy both but the garage decided to use the Copper stuff for some reason.

It fixed the problem anyway... Yea you saved me a fair packet from buying new pads and discs which the garage confirmed were fairly new. :)
