I have just purchased a 2000 facelift E200 Kompressor auto and noticed last night that the clock/gear indicator display is faulty. The figures are reading correctly but it is not lighting up like the temp display, has anyone taken out the dash / replaced one of these or do I have to replace the whole thing or live with it?

Remove the cluster (search for a "how to") and replace the bulb behind the display. They are available at dealers. Dead easy fix.

Sounds good, found a picture of the 'tool', I'll try that, do you have any idea what type of bulb is required b4 I open it?

The parts desk at the dealer probably won't know, but they're so cheap you're best bet is to order all of them :) Another one will go at some point :)

If you can't get the tool, you can push the unit out from the back.

Made up the 'tool' with a coat hanger, it wasn't strong enough. I used a flat bladed 8" screwdriver (1/8"dia) and bent the top 1/2" 90 degrees, worked a treat, swapped over one of the bulbs and the display now works!!:) :) Have to get some spare bulbs. Thanks.
