w210 diesel knock

when left over night or considerable hours a knocking sound is heard its not a tappet sound, but after a little run to get warm it almost stops i have just noticed the heater plug light is staying on a little after starting but i am not convinced thats the problem help would be grateful.

It sounds like a plug is down. Usually they are lumpy on start if one is down, is yours?

You can check the plugs by unplugging the connector from the control relay on the n/s inner wing behind the ABS unit. Each plug has a seperate feed, conveniently numbered 1-6.

yeah starts but lumpy will get that looked methinks, seems to be a problem been changed not to long ago. will check out thanks.
