Hi Guys,
Had an issue twice in the last couple of days with my E320CDI W210 estate from 2002 with 180k on the clock.
She normally runs flawlessly but yesterday and this morning when I put the key in I got the usual steering lock noise on insertion, turn to first position got me the usual red light for the airbag (?), second position should bring up all the other lights and the glow plugs.
But I got nothing in the second position and nothing happened when I turned to the third position to start the car.
Pulled out the key and tried it again. Zip.
A couple more times and then it all happens normally. Start the car and off to work albeit a little late.
Zero other issues.
I searched for a similar issue and I found this :http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/electronics/25501-w210-intermittent-ignition-problem.html
Which is from some time ago where Ian B Walker suggests the ignition barrel assembly.
Does anyone have anything further to add ?
If this needs to be moved to the electronics section please go ahead and apologies for putting it in the wrong place.
