This is the single wiper fitted to the year 2002 facelift W210.
I needed to change the wiper blade - Done this many times before - Usually 2 minutes of a job.
BUT
Today - I lifted the wiper arm to detach the blade.
It didn't appear to lift quite high enough.
So I pulled it up sharply.
There was a click, and the wiper arm is now stuck at a raised angle of about 30 degrees above the screen.
Is there an easy fix ?
[Preferably without having to remove the whole mechanism]
It's far from obvious why it has stuck in this position.
Have I bust it ???
Advice please.
Thanks in advance

That’s normal, you will need to push the arm part down with great force OR you can whack it hard with the heel of your hand and it will pop back down.

It feels like you will brake something, but you won’t.

"It feels like you will brake something, but you won’t".

Thanks very much Dec.
That's what I hoped you would say.
You can see why I asked the question !!
John

Yes just push it down hard, it will be fine

Thanks Bob.

I sprayed the mechnism with WD40 and then gave it a good push down.
It went back down with no troubles.
Thanks for your help.

When I first changed the wiper blade on my old S210 E320 I encountered the same thing. I phoned the dealer to make sure I wasn't going to break the damn thing!
:D
A good shove is all it needs as the others have said.

I actually thought I had broken it.
I was afraid that I was going to have to remove the wiper unit to see how it worked.
What a good Forum this is !!!
