w210 300 Turbo Diesel Estate 1997
Hi all,

Probably not first to ask, but struggling to find exact answer to my problem. I have a 1997 w210 300 Turbo Diesel Estate that was running fine and dandy until I parked it up for two weeks.

On returning to it, it will not start.

Everything happens as it should. Ignition seems to recognise key and lock into barrel. All lights and systems come on. Turns easily in barrel to start position, but then...nothing. No attempt to start whatsoever.

I put direct feed to starter motor to check that and it turned over fine. No ignition obviously. Seems there must be a straight forward answer, but I just can't find it.

Can anyone help please

Nick

Hi,
Have you tried a new battery on it. Many years ago I had exactly the same fault with my 1997 E300TD. My Indy garage told me that it was the battery, but I knew best and did not believe their advice, as it had always been starting ok. However after getting the car recovered to them, they popped in a brand new battery and all was back to normal. Egg on my face for being a non believer !, but at least it was not the ignition system which would have been £££.££
In the 13 years I had the E300, the best battery and the last, was a genuine Mercedes one, which they discounted to an attractive price.
So moral from my tale is , can you borrow or beg a new battery to try ??
