Mercedes E class estate 2003
Hello everybody. Can anybody help. My 2003 E class estate is parked up outside my daughter and the rear end is nearly touching the floor. I have noticed this has happened a couple of times in the past but after 30 seconds or so of ticking over it lifted. Obviously something has failed and I am hoping it is a sensor so it doesnt cost too much. I have read somewere that there is a fuse by the accelorator pedal on some models that could possibly have gone, Can anybody tell me if my model, 2003 E class 320d has this fuse. If it does, must be worth a check before Mercedes have my pants down.

If it drops whilst parked it's a leak somewhere.

Arnotts replacement rear air springs are £610 for a pair.
No need to drop the rear axle to fit them, so cheaper to fit. But they must be fitted in pairs.
There is a valve on each air spring that holds the pressure in the unit so even if the airline is leaking the springs should remain pressurised.

Get it to an indy and onto Star to test the system. They can also test the pipework for leaks too.

I have the same problem some times my E200 estate is sitting down at the rear but comes up after a few minutes, it can then go weeks without it happening again. any ideas

Is it just one side or both?
Both will probably be a common air leak on the supply line from the distribution block to the splitter on the rear axle and then to either air spring.
It could be the rubber diaphragm in the air spring has split and occasionally will allow air to leak out, depending upon the location of the split.
Spray soapy water on all the connections on the pipework and check for any chafing of said pipework.
If no pipework leaks found then it will be a new airspring.
Arnotts are cheaper and quicker to fit but you will need to buy 2 and replace both sides.

Also budget for two new spring control arms as the bushes will probably be worn and you cannot change the bush on its own in the alloy arm fitted to the airmatic system.
