W211 door courtesy lights

Can anyone advise the method of getting the whole light unit out of the bottom of the front doors? I have led repalcements but other than getting the lense cover off and the bulb out I cant see how the actual unit comes out.

Anyone done this?

Door lighting is on ribbon cable on the w211, not sure the unit is replacable

Did u finally manage to change the lights where can I get them too

as per my post above , the whole light unit is on the ribbon cable with the door circuit, you could solder wires onto the old bulb connectors and drop the unit in the door card then connect up to the new LED units and fit them to the door.

Be carefull when removing the door card as if you do not unplug the cables from the door control unit first, you will damage the ribbon cables (tell me how i know DOH!), ribbon cables are circa £50 a door to replace.
