Just moved to an E270 04 W211 Estate from a W203 C180 Estate.

It has an electronic load cover in the boot but it either jumps off one side on opening or it doesnt rewind properly. Anyone any ideas...may be some lube needed on the roller and/or rear pillar tracks?

I have had the rollers replaced twice in my 57 plate and the motors under warranty. it appears to be a weak system.

The problem was caused by the underside of the load cover and the lower edge of the roller mouth being sticky so that it didnt retract. A good clean with detergent solved the problem.

Yes - does appear to be a weak link. I had mine fixed under warranty and it sounded like a bag of nails after the repair. It's now stopped working again, and from what I've picked up from other forums, it stops working a quite a lot and it's not a cheap fix if you pay for it yourself. Not the end of the world but kind of annoying to not have all the bits in your car working!

Mine is erratic! Sometimes it works, somtimes not. Seems to be connected to how I open the tailgate. If I'm very gently when pressing the handle, it usually activates the load cover - if I'm quick or heavy handed with it, it doesn't! :(
