W211 E220 CDi - 'Service E'

My 50,000 mile 2003 W211 E220CDi is due for a Service E in 5000 miles. The last two services have been done by independents. Does anyone know what work a Service E entails, and whether independents are able to carry it out? Will I be needing to sell the wife and kids into slavery to pay for it?

It varies. There may be extras.

The cost will depend on whether you need brake fluid changed and whether you have had your ATF done (probably previous service?).

Given your mileage you may have some age based stuff due as well. The ESS should list these.

Thanks for the heads up. I had the ATF done at 38000 and the brake fluid at 47000. Hopefully these will nock a little off the final bill.
