Hi Guys

I'm relatively new here as I was using another forum but never realised there was a dedicated UK forum for Mercedes.

Anyway I have a bit of a situation and was hoping you guys might be able to help me.
I have a 2002 E270 CDI which I have owned for a few years now, recently I started having problems where the car would go into limp mode and refuse to rev past 3k, pulling over and restarting would usually resolve this, I changed a host of sensors but the same code (boost pressure sensor) kept appearing.

Last year I had the opportunity to buy another E270 (2004) that had its roof cut off in an accident, the engine sounded a lot sweeter than mine so I decided to change it. After changing it I found the original problem was still there and the same code from before kept coming up, on the DAS the code description mentioned that the ECU could be at fault so I send both ECU's away so that the one of the donor would work on mine, however I think the specialist may have done something wrong as when I got the ECU's back the problem was yet again still there.

I left it parked for a couple of days and when I came to it I found it was stuck in park and would only come out after pressing the emergency release. Also tried replacing brake light switch but didn't help

So now I have a few of questions for you guys

1) How can I go about recoding the ECU from the start so that hopefully the problem will be rectified?

2) I have a replacement shifter unit from the donor - is it a case of just swapping them over or does any coding need doing ?

3) I also replaced the SBC pump from the donor car but there are still BAS, ABS and ESP lights on the dash, I was told that the software needs updating so how would this be done?

I have a STAR diagnostics system with developer mode but I am still learning how to use it, I also have a mate with an Autologic tool.

Your help would be much appreciated as I am not really sure what to do now and it is causing me a fair bit of headache.

Many Thanks

you cant code the engine unless you go 2 a merc main dealer its done over the net.you can change over the seletor module no problem. do you have the fault code numbers ? to update the software of your sbc pump you need another tool to plug into the sbc pump .it normaly says( service brakes visit workshop) if there is a problem with your sbc

Hi thanks for your speedy reply, I've just read the codes in both the Gearbox and ESM module and there are no codes at all but I'm going to try and replace the shifter now and see what happens

EDIT: I replaced the shifter unit last night but still it wont come out of park unless you press the emergency release, I've also noticed that when ignition switch has become a lot noisier than before so I think that it maybe the cable going to the shifter which is the problem. :wallbash:

What diag equipment are you using?

If the selector module is new you will have to release the "transport protection" with a Star diag machine. If it is second hand it won't work. Only new non-interlocked selector modules can be fitted.

When you swapped the engine over did you swap the turbo too?

Hi
I am using DAS Xentry with developer mode, the selector unit was from my 04 donor car - how come it cannot be used , is there any way it could be virginised or reprogrammed as under the developer mode in ESM there is an option to transfer coding.

Yes I swapped the complete engine, turbo and gearbox and still have the old engine and box.

Just a quick bump to say I am going to put the original shifter back in but before I do, is there anything I should check or strip down before I put it back in ?

Many Thanks
