Hi - looking for some guidance here if anyone can help. I have a headlight out on the passenger side, they are bi-xenon's. I took it to Halfords on Weds and they fitted a new bulb which didn't work, I then got the guy to fit the old bulb in the side that does work (fortunately he was very accommodating) and it worked which obviously means that its not the actual bulb that's blown.

I am not the most technical person but has anyone got any suggestions as to what to look at next? Anyone had a similar problem before? Also, any idea of costs of potential problems ?

Any suggestions appreciated ...

Thanks
Lynne

You have done the correct thing in proving the bulb. It could be a bad earth on the actual light or a ballast has failed.

Sent from my iPhone using MBClub UK

It will be the ballast.

You will have to remove the front bumper in order to take off the headlight. Best to pick up a headlight from eBay with the ballast attached. At least you will have a spare headlight in case something happens.

Hi - thanks for the replies. I have been looking on eBay but to be honest I am not sure what I am needing. My car is a very late e-class with bi-xenons and has the movement action that lights up bends and corners (sorry don't know the technical term) and although there seem to be plenty for sale for my year I am not sure if they are the right version ... :dk:

Thanks anyway - looks like I will just have face the garage bill :(

Hi, depends where you live, you may be near a independent MB garage who frequents this forum.

Hi Dieselman

Many Thanks for the link - however when I put my cars details in it says its not suitable. Thanks for the thought though. Ideally I would like to buy a complete new (second hand) headlight unit to fit it.

Thank anyway

Not once you see the price, you wouldn't.

Contact the seller of that unit, they sell all types. The ballast just screws on.

1. Do you mean cornering lights when your foglights turn on and off depending on the steering input.

2. Do you mean adaptive headlights when your headlights physical turn left or right depending on your steering input.

If its number 1 then this headlight light will do fine, just take the ballast off and screw it onto your existing headlight.

Hi - Thanks for the replies and sorry if I have confused things, I keep getting confused as friends keep giving "advice" and confusing me!

The headlights I think just move to do the self levelling thing, I don't think they physically turn. The fog lights do come on though depending on steering input.

Thank you to the link on ebay, I did actually find that one and wondered if was suitable. The only thing that concerns me is the broken tab bit but I can email seller and find out a bit more about that.

Many Thanks
Lynne

Don't worry about any broken tabs, use it to knock the price down. There is a part number for a repair kit for these headlights so you can get the kit from Mercedes. The kit is awesome and will replace any broken tabs.

I will need to hunt for the part number, unless someone else can post it up before me.

Hi Major774

Cheers for the heads-up regarding a repair kit for the headlight that sounds perfect. If you or anyone else is able to advise part number that would be brilliant ....

Thanks for all the replies everyone
