w211 e320cdi sport g7 with paddleshift
My car has developed a fault which is proving difficult to pinpoint. It's as though the suspension has gone super sensitive especially on the motorway, every bump and crevice can be felt and at high speeds this is being felt as type of vibration. All wheels have been balanced new control arms, and bearings on front, I'm on 160000 miles but the shocks are the originals. My feeling is that something is not quite right with the back end suspension, as I have never had to change any bushes or arms on the back, every part is original. If anyone has any ideas on what could cause this type of fault please assist.
If the rear shockers were faulty what is the best way to test.

At that mileage ,it’s new shocks and springs buddy , no point in testing anything.
Just changed mine at 126k , it’s transformed the drive .

I am trying to decide which springs and shockers to go for on a limited budget, has anyone fitted any that are not too expensive but not that bad in quality. Also my front end has always been a bit higher than the back, since spring replacement a couple of years back so I need to rectify this as I suspect the garage didn't fit like for like. There are no coloured markers on these and my old springs were scrapped. So I need to find out which marker coloured springs I need for the front, online epc lists so many it's unbelievable.

They should only list one if you input your VIN

I used Sachs , which were what came off mine . From Autodoc , I did have coloured dots on mine so comparing on the site was straightforward.
But I’m an Avantgarde so not the same as your sport

In the past Monroe springs and shockers were pretty good, at present they seem to be reasonably priced. I need to the correct first though as there seems to be multiple parts of the same make listed for my car

I got Eibach OEM springs for the SLK for just under £30 each from Autodoc. I’m told they are a good make, seem fine on the car.

The front springs on my AMG have the MB part number printed on them along with 'AMG' and finally.....Eibach. So both you and MB think Eibach are good enough :) :thumb:

Soundz very much like your shocks are not controlling bound and rebound anymore, the spring is basically that now , a bouncy spring.

Yet when I push down on each corner no bounce at all. ,🤔

My recollection of the w211 is the back end wouldnt budge ,even with new shocks and springs, when a human pushed down on it . 😂😂

Just hope these eibach coil springs give me the correct ride height. At the moment since new springs were fitted a couple of years back in my absence 🤨, the front is higher than the back. I think the mechanic who ordered and fitted the new springs may have fitted the avant garde or classic springs instead of the ones for sports suspension.
Looking at some videos of rear spring replacement, not as straightforward as it looks, is worth replacing control arms whilst am at it ?

Yeah the sports springs have around 2 loops less . Avantgarde touring springs sit even lower , so he probably fitted classic springs .

Alot of places fit new shocks and don't even know about the height adjustment ring ,hidden beneath the cup.

Have you checked what the Eibach website says? Autodoc are a good source for price and availability.

Yes post 11 earlier in this thread shows a screenshot of the ones I am thinking of getting, and they are listed for sports suspension.
I hope mine are easier to do than w1ghtys.
