Good morning all.

My 2008 W211 had it's MOT today. I knew it would fail as the OSF headlamp is not functioning but it was put through for testing to see if anything else was required.

Fortunately there were no other failures or advisories which is impressive for 172,000 miles!

The headlamp control unit it requires is £338 from MB and has to ordered from Germany and takes 5 days.

It is a Hella unit so I will try to source one from elsewhere.

Any information regarding potential UK suppliers welcome.

The old part number is A2118709026 but this has been superceded by A2118705585

Found a new Hella unit from a supplier on eBay is the for £212

MB wanted (with VAT) £405 and up to a week to supply.

The one from eBay will be here early next week.

Not bad price for a new Hella branded product, which probably is oem anyway but in a Hella branded box. Touchwood should do the trick 👍 Well done with mileage too, just goes to show these cars are well built and engineered to last. 🙂

Thank you.

It is still a very pleasant car to drive and costs little to run. I am fussy about using OE or OEM parts and my specialist is a pragmatic sort of chap who is also fussy about having things done "correctly" 🤣
