Dealer price £350 for each (front or rear)... Any one have experience with Halfords ones. They are fitted by hyde park corner (I think £80 for the rear sensors and 50 for fitting)... Any suggestions welcomed

Thank you

Is this for an estate or a saloon?

I did my mum's 211 couple of months ago with a cheap set from eBay.
Works a treat. She's delighted with it.

It's an easy enough job to do yourself if you are that way inclined?

It is saloon....

Interested to know about DIY... I do some work for my caterham but never thought I'd have the courage to do DIY to a merc

Piece of cake.
We on here can give you all the guidance you need. What colour is the car?

ECHO!

(Repeat post)

Colour is Grey (I think it is called pearl light grey)...

I am not sure what way I will go to... I need to read first about how easy to remove the bumper and how the electricity will be connected...

Thanks

Don't need to remove the bumper. You only need to remove the central strip in the bumper. To be honest, this is the most difficult bit of the job because you have to prise it out carefully so as not to damage any of the trim. It's not difficult as such, just a little time consuming.

The electrical connection is straight forward. Just need to tap into the reverse light wire in the boot.

Tools needed:
Drill - for making holes in the central trim you carefully removed.
Electrical meter - for determining which is the reverse light wire in the boot.
Wedges - these are used for prying the the central trim section away from the main bumper. (If you like I'll post up a link of the wedges I have. Not expensive at all and always useful to have).

.

And with any luck the position of the holes you need to drill will be pre-marked on the back! I'd drill a pilot hole from the back first.

I bought a set of HawkAlarm (Hawkealarm??) ones from ebay for £15 to fit on our Skoda, very straightforward. As they fit onto the colour coded bumper, I sprayed them before fitting, which it sounds like you will be spared.

I was very pleased with the job, indistinguishable from OE.

When I did my Mum's 211, I found that although there were 'rings' or markings on the inside of the plastic trim insert, I don't think they are located at the points at where factory fitted sensors would be.

Instead, I used the pre-cut holes in the bumper itself (i.e. the bit behind the plastic trim) as a guide for where to drill for the sensors. In doing this, I found that the spacing was roughly the same as those on my S211 (factory fitted parktronic).
