2007-facelift E220 Cdi Estate
Hi All.
I have a 2007 S211 (WDB211206), with self-levelling rear air suspension, but not code 489 airmatic.
It was sitting peacefully on the street outside the house. minding its own business, when another car piled-in to it, before the driver fled the scene, leaving their car abandoned in the middle of the street with its front left wheel hanging off.
Unsurprisingly, my insurer is telling me my car is a write-off.
Surprisingly, there is very little damage to bodywork on the car, and rear tail light is damaged (cheap, easy fix) , but crucially there is suspension damage - rear right wheel took 99%+ of the impact and wheel is forward in the wheel arch, and excessively cambered in.
At least a couple of the NSR suspension arms are damaged, and drop link, and wheel speed sensor. Perhaps - probably - more.
I have maintained the car in very good condition, so am looking to see if I can repair it. There is no way I can get a vehicle in as good condition as mine was pre-incident for the money the insurer is offering me - nor, I suspect, even double the money.
Rather than trying to replace just the damaged arms - potentially to find other damaged bits when at it - thinking about trying to replace the whole rear subframe assembly complete - all arms, wheel carriers, shocks, etc.

I have access to WIS.

Does anyone have any experience / tips / advice around this? - Things to watch out for / tricky bits / gotchas - while removing / installing?

Have done plenty of Google searching and not turned up anything.

WIS says:
  1. replace rather then reuse the big 4 bolts (A0029907422) that hold the subframe to the body. How necessary is this really?
  2. removal of the rear air springs will break the retaining clips to the frame foor. I plan to port the recently fitted Arnott A-2726s from my car to the new subframe. I can't see anything in EPC or Arnott about these clips being available separately, or even see what they are? Anyone know more about this?
  3. Apply color markings indicating the position of the propeller shaft relative to the rear axle differential (50) and the propeller shaft center support bearing to ensure that the components are fitted at the correct ex-factory positions on reinstallation, otherwise drive line vibrations may occur. Do I need to ask breaker I am getting subframe from to mark this for me on removal, or will it be 'pot luck' when fitting donor diff to my propshaft?
I know I'll need to get ride height checked and 4 wheel laser alignment afterwards.

Am I right in thinking a rear subframe assemby for any S211 2006-2009 should be suitable, so long as it doesn't have airmatic? - i.e. E280 / E320 ok as well, not just E220?

Any advice on sourcing a complete rear subframe assembly from a breaker?

Any common wear bits likely to need replacement on donor subframe - bushes? - Thinking I can order-up from AutoDoc with their 'safe returns' policy, to have on standby if needed. But I guess the best thing to do would be to get the donor subframe, check it over, and take it from there. (But I was aiming for not inconviencing my mate but having him trip over it as his garage for weeks while awaiting replacement bits - rather to have them lined-up and waiting so can 'go' when the subframe arrives.)

TIA.
