W212 Rear Subframe Corroded

If its anything like a W204, the rear brake pipes can be replaced without dropping the sub frame.
Had mine done for a princely £160. Not at a MB specialist garage though.
Just spotted this so apologies for being late to the party.

It may be useful to know (although perhaps not in this instance) that the subframe needs to be dropped in order to replace the rear brake pipes on a PFL W212. Had to have mine done a few weeks ago to pass the MoT.

I've been told that the rear subframe needs to be taken out. Interesting my indy would have charged less for taking the subframwe off himself ro replace the brakelines than Mercedes charged to replace the brake lines while they were replacing the subframe under their goodwill arrangement haha the dealer I bought the car from paid for this luckily.

I'd be asking for a breakdown of the brake line cost. That sounds a lot for an hour of work and some pipe (regardless of what it's made from ;)). I suspect the pricing for it includes removing the rear subframe...which will already be lay in a rusty pile on their workshop floor 🤔.

Probably finger trouble on the part of the dealer; MB would check before paying the bill, surely?

I had the call yesterday from Project AMG, car was in for an MOT but they didn't even bother as the rear subframe is toast - they've got contacts with MB Southampton & it was dropped off this morning to have it replaced FOC.
I hadn't even realised there was a subframe issue with the W212 until it was mentioned at my last service.
I'm having the brake-lines replaced as well as these were an advisory on last years MOT, Project AMG are sorting these - expecting it back in a week or so, in the meantime they've given me a Smart Forfour to use - slight difference in power I have to say.!!
Also having both front & rear nearside shocks replaced as these were both leaking - I've been warned these are expensive items
It's going to be a rather expensive bill, oh well, I've been lucky in the past 6 years so I can't complain, to be honest, as the car is still for sale I'm pleased it didn't sell to a forum member before the MOT as that would've been very bad karma.
Update you once it's back from MB.
