w211 springs

Hi folks

Looking for some help? My springs have broken on my e280 cdi and I am looking mat buying spring compressors. Would compressors with a pressure of 1500kg be enough and safe? I can't find info about the strength of them if they are suitable.

If you're referring to front springs, I removed the damper with the spring intact (which you can - not like W124s etc) and let my local garage fit my new spring to the damper whilst I waited. Price of a drink or two. Hardly worth buying the tool unless you expect frequent use.

Yeah we have a few mercs between us and fed up of the springs going so deciding to do the work myself from now on! Did the same the last time as yourself but only cos I didn't have the tools! I am presuming the 1500 kg would be enough but just wanting to see if anyone knew for definite?
