W212 battery dimensions.

Having just managed to buy the wrong battery for my E350CDi (from Tayna, where I was reminded at least twice during the ordering process to 'check the dimensions of your existing battery....'!!), I wondered if anyone could confirm that the correct battery dimensions are 315 x 175 x 175mm, or thereabouts please?

I've got the part no. of an original from RealOEM as A 000 982 21 08 (there were a few different numbers though), which Tayna cross-references to various Bosch/Varta/Exide ones. I was going to go with an Exide EA852 as I've used Exide many times in the past and never had an issue.

Oh, I can't check the dimensions of the old one - halfway through the swap, one of those pickup trucks loaded with scrap pulled up at the end of the drive........guess what I gave him....

Tanya also had the incorrect measurement listed for my car.

I've got that very battery in the W212.

Got one of the lads here so give me 10 and I'll measure it.

I bought this battery off Amazon Prime when I had a S212.

Dimensions quoted are 31.5 x 17.5 x 19 cm (L x W x H). Fitted like a glove if that's any help.

A0009822108 supersedes to A0019828108

Measures roughly 300 x 180 x 190mm, width may be wider though as it was dark and I could only measure at top. Height is certainly bigger than 175mm so this may be your problem.

Many thanks chaps. I've ordered an Exide EA900 from Tayna, 190mm high rather than 175. The 'wrong' one I ordered was too long at 350mm ish - it fitted ok regarding height, 190mm, so the one coming tomorrow will be fine.

My mate's had the too-big one off me at the price I paid, it fits his wife's Range Rover, so all's well!

Make sure you look it up using number plate, correct battery for my W212 estate is a 315x175x190mm
Bosch S5 A11 its AGM, unlike the cheap Calcium battery that has failed which the previous owner had fitted!

You won’t always get the wrong battery, the one they list will almost certainly fit some model derivatives. And they do tell you to check the size and terminal positions before you order.
