W212 E63 AMG Servicing

When you read the schedule, the gearbox is changed at 3 years, not every 3 years.
If it has a LSD, that is changed every 3 years.

Confused here 🙉

AFT degrades over time, so it definitely needs doing. So is it every 30k or 60k intervals?

1 thing to look out for is just because its FMBSH it doesn't mean everything was done
Eg if it went in for a B service and say the plugs needed changing the owner could say no dont do them as im selling etc but it would still have FMBSH it's the added extras which I look out for and me personally wouldn't buy an AMG without full history or cheap tyre's 😉

Enter your vehicle details here for the correct service requirements:

There is a red fluid and blue fluid. The fluid degrades differently. We probably all have the red fluid, hence the recommended change at every 30k? This might be the reason 🤷

Bit more info here the fluid type.

Looking at this video, the m157 with 722.9 as oval dimples instead of round ones on the pan. This might mean the fluid is the blue one and not the red one. The actual fluid type may only apply to US market though as the information appears on US sites. Interesting topic 🫡

Erm.....that seems a bit excessive! Maybe just change the oils next time....it's way cheaper.... :)

As you point out, FMBSH does not mean that everything was done. Issue is, even when 'added extras' as you put it have actually been done, these do not always get added to the electronic service history by the garage.

Ive always got a print out and receipt with everything listed

If you buy from a dealer chances are you won't get all the supporting paperwork because anything with a name or address etc has to either crossed out with a marker pen or more commonly not passed on because of gdpr

This is correct, although the dealers should still keep electronic records of the same showing what’s been done (not the DSB, but logs of the dealer visits). So if you needed to know at some point if something was done they could check without revealing anyone’s personal data :thumb:

Just checked the dealer history. The car is a December 2015 car, digital print shows in November 2020 at 42k the ATF was changed. Assume it's a time based oil change and not mileage?

Id say that was late on both counts, but not by a huge amount
