W213 E-Class Apple Play

Folks, new to forum and been a great help so far. Have a 2016 W213. It's running NTG5.0. Pretty basic setup from my reading. Would love to have Apple play but sounds like not an option. Just wondering if anybody on here has any extra information on is it possible at all? Or what would be involved...

Compared to even a basic Ford Fiesta these days, the interface to iPhone is pretty average.

Car needs to come with the Comand Online system from new I believe - that gives you Apple Car Play and Android Auto. It's ridiculous they don't have this functionality as standard on cars of this price!

Not sure what the specs are of the SLC, but if you take a look at the current W213 brochure: https://tools.mercedes-benz.co.uk/current/passenger-cars/e-brochures/new-e-class-saloon.pdf and search for Apple CarPlay, it's only mentioned in conjunction with Comand Online. This certainly was the case when I bought my W213 in 2016.

Well that just goes to prove it isn't impossible to offer it on other models/specs, just the MB don't want to.

My thoughts were the same that other models had ACP with COMAND online, however it seems they’re running NTG 4*5 or 5*1 etc whereas the E-Class has NTG 5. Must see if it was only early 2016 models which came with NTG 5. Can that be upgraded?
