Guys

Has anyone had any issues with the seat motors?

My car was in for a service recently, and I mentioned that the easy entry/exit lowering the steering wheel has got stuck on a few occasions, and also sometimes it makes a little click before it eventually moves.
Call me a cynic, but service said the technician performance a software update on the seat control module, and this would fix the steering wheel issue, but this would appear to have broken/impaired the electric seat movement.
The base doesn't go low enough, and the seat back kind of jitters.

They took the seat out of the car as apparently its the seat motor, but there are no parts available in the UK, they've ordered from Germany.

It definitely didn't do this before the update, but how would a software update bust the motor?

They've loaned me a C300d while they fix my car, which is quite a nice car I must say, and road noise its a lot quieter than the E63, but the tyre skipping on this car is really bad.

The easy entry up/down movement (well, actually, all up down movement) of the steering wheel in Angie's SLK55 packed up earlier this year, with the wheel refusing to move from its uppermost "exit" position.

A bit of web research revealed that this is a relatively common fault on multiple models - not just the SLK - and seems to result from the motorised screw mechanism overshooting the point where the limit switch should take over and stop it. I managed to get Angie's column to move again through "percussive maintenance" and since then disabled the easy entry option in the cluster to stop it happening again, as the full solution is replacement of the steering column adjustment motor assembly at huge cost.

Personally, assuming your car is still under warranty, I'd be leaning on the dealer to delve further and fix the steering column properly as it will misbehave again.

Can't help regarding the seat(s) though.

Thanks.

To be honest, my previous W212 E63 had similar issues with the steering wheel, but just a lot more stubborn.
When it stuck, It properly stuck to the point that you needed a bit of brute force and ignorance to move it while moving adjustment lever down as the same time.
The car is still under manufacturer warranty, but only just.

^ Exactly the same on Angie's SLK55. Hope you manage to get it sorted under warranty on your W213.
