Strange one this - the power boot / trunk operates okay, but when closing the lock triggers about 1 second / 30 degrees too early, meaning the boot won't shut properly as the lock is, well, locked.

Is there a reset sequence so it can the lock can relearn where closed is?

Does yours have the self closing boot with the close button ?

Does it close ok manually?

It has the self closing boot with the button on the keyfob and the drivers door to operate it.

I have had to overpower the boot opening mechanism to close it.

Check the wiring for fatigue cracks or shorts. It should close as a normal boot when pulled down manually, the closing mechanism shouldn't be fighting you.

...While you are at it: Check the rear plate lights. If the transparent covers are not transparent anymore, it means that there has been water ingress from a non-tight gasket around the 3rd brake light. The inner textile will have to be removed and it is possible that the 3rd brake light fastener has corroded beyond repair. Water that has gotten all the way down to the reg plate illumination will cause galvanic corrosion that will destroy the lamp holders...

(Been there, got the T-shirt...)

And if the HUF mechanic lock mechanism has never been used, It is time to give that an overhaul as well. Zink casting does not go well with the brass elements, but possibly it can be given a oil-wash. If taken apart be careful to assemble the elements in exactly the sequence/order that they were put together in the first place. Otherwise it will never be possible to open that trunk with a mech key again...
