Hope any of you can help.

My 2002 W215 has the phone cradle fitted in the armrest for a nokia 6230i. I have one of these phones yet can't get the car to recognise it. The phone charges whilst in the cradle but the Comand display says 'Error Tel not plugged in'

Does anyone have any suggestions

Thanks

Are you sure the cradle is for a 6230i? The cradle in your model was typically for a 6310i, which would explain why it makes a charging connection but not a data connection.

Thanks for the info, however I can't find my cradle number on there.

Its:- A 215 820 00 51

Mine's 04 51. Not sure but it may be that yours is an earlier cradle that is only compatible with the 6210.

Mine is a 2002 model and it came with the Nokia 6210. Had to update the PSE so that I could use a 6310i.

Thanks for the advice but excuse my ignorance...what is PSE and how much does it cost to upgrade it?

Cheers

Thanks Richard, I was thinking about a Viseeo but wanted to make sure that the phone system actually worked before spending money on the Viseeo.

Out of interest what is the connection and call quality like? I have Bluetooth in my BMW and the quality is poor, to people on the end of the phone anyway. Would it just be better to get a 6210 off Ebay?

Cheers

Doh, I forgot about me upgrading my PSE! Buying a Nokia 6210 on ebay would enable you to satisfy yourself that the current PSE works and would be the cheapest way to gain use of the phone. I did this for a while with a 6310 and bought a PAYG card to put in the Nokia and then left it in the car, diverting calls from my mobile phone to there when I was on the move. I never made calls from the car and so the PAYG didn't cost me anything more than the initial £5

I can confirm that the Viseeo has excellent sound quality, far better than most other Bluetooth installations I have tried. The Viseeo would also give you more flexibility in your choice of phone.

I have a similar message on the phone system on my W211 e-class, the sstem used to work with both the 6310i and the 6210 (somestimes) but now it just shows a message of no phone inserted.

Is this likely to be a PSE fault, are there any easy checks that I can carry out to test the PSE?
