W220 - Bluetooth Pairing with Mobile

My Fathers W220 comes with a factory fitted bluetooth module. It shows up with a bluetooth option on the COMAND system when he presses the SERV button. I would like to try and connect his mobile phone to the system so he can use it handsfree...

Now the system can happily pair with his mobile phone, Samsung SGH-X820, and the phone picks up that the system can offer a headset service.

The problem is that once the pairing has been done COMAND shows that it is connected but after about 10seconds changes to 'Not Connected' telling the mobile to reconnect just results in message saying that it has failed to connect.

Is there something that i am missing out here or am i missing some other component to allow the phone to connect to it as a headset i assumed just having the module and option in COMAND would be enough...

Phones i've tried, all with the same result:
Samsung SGH-X820
Nokia 6500 Classic
T-Mobile MDA Vario II

Any help or pointers greatly appreciated

is it the COMAND APS he has? I have COMAND APS on my W204 and a Nokia 6500 Classic. It works fine for me - excpet you have to transfer business cards individually.

Have you checked the paired devices list in the COMAND menu? I found 5 phones listed in mine so deleted them - all except for 'convenience phone' which wont allow itself to be deleted.

i have the same problem with my c200 sport coupe comand system.(10/2004 model face lift)

Just like you say....

Can someone gives us a solution to this problem?

The bluetooth on COMAND is NOT for pairing a BT phone ...it will not work...to use a BT phone you need a UHI prewired system and a BT cradle....The BT in COMAND has nothing to do with your telephone - sorry...

I do believe I am correct but I am sure the experts Alfie & Richard will come along soon ....

This is not true for COMAND APS though

You are not talking about COMAND APS but COMAND APS on a W204. W204 is the first MB supporting BT HF, even W221 does not do that.

Crockers should be right, except that you can use the car BT with a phone, like for sending the phone book from the phone to COMAND (not sure if that works on a W220 or others but it does work on a W221). I assume he means COMAND does not support Bluetooth hands free on older car models.

Not on the topic but I can send the whole phone book from my phone (Nokia E90) at once to my W221 COMAND. I assume your COMAND is ready for this too, are you sure your phone would not support this?

Once the pairing has been setup with my fathers phone, i can send his phonebook to the car over bluetooth without any problems, although the phone only supports sending entry by entry...just can't really do anything else with it

So i guess i'm going to have to get some cradle, which doesn't make sense since the bluetooth is already there...
