wanted 606 turbo lift pump and I need to know how does it work with the IP?

It's an overflow/pressure regulator

Ci,

I am pretty sure this valve has two functions as opposed to previous models where it only acts as a pressure regulator.

Firstly it's just a hole inside the bolt, there is no spring/ball affair to regulate pressure only the diameter of the hole itself.

MB state it's an 'overflow' valve, this I think is accurate and refers to the ball that can be seen in the head of the bolt (picture below).

(the new bolt on the left has a protective wax inside)

It has a wee spring inside. I could feel it with a pin, put it in the hole and let it go, it'll pop out a little.
Also if you suck it it shut, if you blow it it open.
Mine is not sutting properlly and the spring is really weak, but I don't know how strong it should be either? Also sometimes when I was blowing something was flapping inside.
Wax inside? That's too odd as it would clogged it. No?

Two (Three?) Versions of the "Overflow Valve'

1.Spring loaded (Serviceable,Able to R+R spring)
2.Sealed, as in question.[Oliver's] (What a ****er thing for Bosch and MB to do!)
3.Fixed Venturi type (Orifice that's not adjustable).

I've got the "Serviceable" type (If MB still supplies the Spring)
A gentleman @ a Bosch service station on the Pacific Rim suggested 'In Extremis"
that the "Fixed" Venturi type from earlier models had the same flow rate,so why not?

Spock,

The picture of the "Overflow valve" in your reply #21 (At the bottom of the reply) is
NOT the Non-adjustable "Venturi" type.It's the type that's Oliver's.

The "Fixed Venturi" type will have a solid flat head, on the SINGLE hex head.

Overflow Valve

The "Servicable Bolt" is on the Older Diesels OM616,OM617.
(I only know about it from the '84 300SD I used to own)
[The Bolt in the bottom left of your Bosch replacement parts picture is what it looked like.]

If your MB engine is the OM606.962 ( and we know it is from the Mercedes part number on
the side of your I.P.),the EPC is showing your Overflow is the
Mercedes part number 601 070 06 46.

I just looked at the Overflow Bolt on the OM602.962 in the '90 300D and it IS
the part that Spock's showing in his pictures.EPC says it's MB # 601 070 0146
M12 X 1.5 .5 to 1.0 Bar.[In your picture of the Bosch chart,it's the one outlined in RED]

In the center column of your Picture of the Bosch replacement bolts; the Third one down ( I can't read the Bosch number) is a:
M12 x 1.5 1.0 to 1.5 Bar.(Which is a higher pressure relief than the "0146")
BUT there's no MB part number cross reference on the chart for that bolt.

[I'm in receipt of "Aluminum Foil,Tin Hat" transmissions that imply the OM606 has a HIGHER
overflow release pressure than the OM602...We'll see (Intuition ain't all it's cracked up to be.) ]

No Matter:
In your picture of the I.D. Plate on the side of your Injection Pump.
One of the Two upper number sets IS the Bosch Part Number of your I.P.
The Bosch people you're dealing with can use that number to find ANY part
for your I.P. and ancillaries.
(Just Like the parts guys @ the MB Dealer need your VIN number to find anything.)

Hi CI,
the bosh shop cannot get the bolt number from the I bosch number? This is odd... I have ordered the 046 as I was told its the right number.
To be continued...

All wrong.. They got me the 046 but bosch numbers, which mean its the wrong one... Sob Sob...
The right one is I think 1417 413 012 ( they got me the 1417 413 046...)
Picture of the look a like then mine

Thanks! Spock

That's the correct Mercedes part number for Oliver's Injection Pump's
Overflow Valve.

Oliver ,
The bolt they ordered/gave you is for an OM 602.962 300D 2.5 (I was trying to tell you this yesterday)
AND No # 1417 413 012 is not the overflow valve you need. That's the same wrong one you've got.(Just an earlier version)

This is the Overflow valve for your 606.962 engine per the EPC:

That's the problem...

When the Bosch people over here reference your Injection Pump by the Bosch I.P. # 0 400 196 003 they come up with an "Overflow Valve" part number
of 1469990351 , BUT THEIR SOFTWARE SAYS IT'S No LONGER AVAILABLE.
(AND,It's freaking them out...Usually even if Mercedes subs out the part
manufacture to another manufacturer there is a reference to the new #.)

They're looking up the Overflow Valve's "Pop off" pressure and bolt dimensions
in a pre-historic paper manual...but no results until tomorrow afternoon.

However ,when I "Google" the part Number 1469990351 a couple of site s show they have it.
(In Germany and Poland)

(BUT,Of Course NO PICTURES)

Polish:
Leja Spó
German:
Bosch HOHLSCHRAUBE 1469990351 - Auto Bendig, Scania, Bosch und Mercedes Servicepartner

Here's one in a language I don't even recognize:
Elemento Y Valvula Bosch | Catálogo de Productos | Subcategoría / Subfamilia VAR17 - Elemento Y Valvula | Categoría / Familia BOSCH - Bosch - Cegapa Automoción SL - Recambios y Accesorios del Automóvil en Los Dolores - Cartagena - Mur

[Wild price variations]

Thanks CI,
This is what the shop said to me, the part 1417 413 012 is no longer available and bosh would get back to him?
Your part is a totally different number tho, 1469 990 351?
All misterious.
I need some light and soon as the car's been off for too long...
All the best.
Olivier

I just got the first "picture"there was none before. I'l give them a call. This is an odd one indeed... What is going on there? The mysterious valve...

I have talk to Spock and I might get it, the only bother is that its the old one he has,the new has been fitted, and I trully prefer to get a new one at that stage after all the bother, I don't want to get there again soon ish...
i'll see what the shop has to say tomorrow...

Ci, do you know if you can you take them apart similar to this one?
