Now now gents, play nicely.

I think the moral of the story was that a Shuttle machine will cover the requirements of 'average joe'. Sure power users want something else, and that's just dandy. The original post clearly stated a simple requirement and that Shuttle fits the bill nicely.

I am on my third Shuttle, and apart from the first SV24 being a bucket of crap they've been rather good apart from the power supply and cpu fan noise. Upon showing it to many people, they've also bought one and have been very happy with them. Newer models have more features and less noise.

Interestingly, the SFF market has increased dramatically in the last 2/3 years and it appears to be the way of the future for many manufacturers.

My Mac Mini makes my Shuttle SB51G look like a giant!

With me it all started way back in the e-PC days with HP. Since then I have been totally into smaller systems.

i have a shuttle type pc - its a MSI mega - 2.2gig celeron, 500mb ram, 1 x 80gb hdd, onboard everything inc card reader. its supposed to play cds with the pc off, but ive never used that function. got it from savastore.com

re-housed in a wooden box / mini chest of drawers so it fits in with my living room. very quiet, and fine for all my apps...

but the sound card on the mobo is broke.. :(

Really broken?
