Try a different dealer - £50 is ridiculous. Some hand them out free, as some carry advertising too.
Or maybe find out which dealer supplied it new, and ask them.

Think he's talking about the plinth rather than the number plate surround / holder.
The plinth stands proud of the bumper and makes the surface flat. IIRC they are in the region of £30-£40

I think I may have a couple of plynths at home in my garage if thats what your looking for?. It fastens to the bumper and the number plate clips in with a strip along the bottom. Another type is where you make a sandwich of the plate - plynth - bumper. I might have both, do you want me to check tonight??.
