Preferably a 2000 model,Must have low to moderate miles and have service history. willing to pay extra for a really straight rust free body.

Will be in UK between the 16th May till 10th June only.

Cheers,
Paul

Ah, the Holy Grail of C43's.
2000 model with uprated gearbox ECU & slide AND tilt steering wheel.
Lots of 2000 registered C43's were 1999 production.
If I find one with low miles and FSH and good bodywork I'm buying it (sorry!!).
I can't imagine there are many on Britains roads.
A friend had one and he sold it 3 months ago for £7500.

Sorry, I know I'm not helping.

Haha Yes,the rare one =) We have a hand full of 98/99/2000(99) here as well,I haven't come accross the tip one yet and iv been searching for 2 years,Im pretty sure we will have one or two here its just a waiting game!. Being NZ-new means no rust and generally have much lower K's(60 - 120k km's not miles) so UK isn't ideal unless it was owned by someone who knows how to maintain it ,which is even rarer on top of the tiptronic haha. Im not really sure why the tip is so sort after though(apart for the apparent stronger box and the fact its the last model),If its anything like the CLK55 its the most sluggish manual/tip shifting Iv driven^^,you would want to have someone remap the TCU!.

Cheers,
Paul

There was a very good example on the Forum for sale don't know if it still is.

That was an amazing example - saw it myself and aside from one scuffed alloy it was immaculate.

Yep that's the one!, If only it had reasonable mileage!

Edit - not sure if that is a Tip 2000 though,it doesn't have the right wheels!?(cant see the shifter well enough either).

I looked at that as well - established it was looked after by a garage called Saphire in Harrow, who knew the full history of the car. Mostly motorway mileage. Previous owner traded in in for an E55, said it had a knocking on the front suspension they couldn't identify, and a lumpy idle.

I spoke to a couple of people who said the regular auto was much better than the tip tonic, never tried one but heard its a ponderous beast of a gearbox

Interesting, how many miles has it done?(Im assuming ~200?)

I thought the tiptronic version was pretty much the same trans as the rest with a few minor changes,so the auto aspect of it should be just as good as the rest, however I agree with the ponderous tiptronic part ,the 208 clk55 I drove definitely was, so i would assume the C43 is too.

Thats fairly high?,Im not sure what sort of wear the M113 has when its done ~317kkm's?. MB recommended oil change intervals make me cringe, and everyone seems to folow them ,every single M113 Iv ever seen has a black tar lining through the cam cover. My last 3 japanese cars never had that.

Mine has 166k - 1998' 2 owners before me, last one a Merc mechanic from the garage who looked after it after it 2001, who followed a far more thorough service schedule than Merc recommends, and it runs perfectly.

I bought it subject to an inspection from my merc mechanic who looks after a few C43's and has has a C280 himself. He says the engines if maintained go on forever, it's the bodywork and gearbox you need to look out for.

I paid 2k for it, drove straight to him, had new discs and pads all round fitted, new drag link, fuel filter, diff seal, full service with fluid changes, breathers done, and a few minor bits like air con re gas.

Result is I am in for about 3500k, but know the car is good.

I could have paid a lot more for a lower mileage car, that still might have had me paying the same bills.

True, you may have got lucky with that one! =)

I haven't been so lucky,I see a lot of flashing spanners with negative signs, usually accompanied by "Oh yes its a bit over on servicing but I dont do many Km's each year". >facepalm<

Even the 2000 C43 with 86kkm's i test drove was super rough, not a straight panel on it with a mix of broken and odd matching parts... So disheartening^^

Yes Have seen that,I do like the C43 estate however I test drove one and for some reason it felt heavier than the sedan?...though there's possibly very little in it.I do prefer the sedan! (save an estate for diesel power!)

I spoke with high mileage 2000/V guy and asked if it was tiptronic and for a photo of the shifter...

"This vehicle does not have tip tonic mode? Approx. 190,000 miles full service history. Owned by same mature gentleman since vehicle had 3000 miles on the clock. Immaculate Ate throughout and drives superb. "

Ok ,Thanks!
