Picked up my grandson , 12 years old and built like a greyhound, from school last week and he got into the front seat with his schoolbag still on his back. He then removed his bag, the thing weighs a tonne, and put it on the back seat. About 300 meters later the above message flashed up and from reading the handbook it would appear that the airbag was enabled when he got in and the reduction in weight when he put his bag in the back reduced the weight needed to activate the airbag. All that was needed was to switch off the engine to disable the airbag.
My grandson always sits in the front and it's never occurred to me to see if the airbag is enabled , by the looks of what happened it would appear that his weight is below the threshold for activating the airbag. I will check next time. Anybody else had this happen ??
