Warranty Query

I am just approaching the end of a Plan B warranty provided by RAC which came with the car.

I was told today that I need a new electronic ignition switch, and a new seal on the gearbox.

I know they will only cover the parts listed, and I thought it probably would cover the EIS but not the seal. In actual fact, it seems the seal is covered but there is no mention of the EIS on the paperwork so I might have to fork out myself.

The only parts relating to the ignition that are mentioned are the "starter/solenoid, alternator, regulator, and coil"

My question is whether the EIS might be classified as any of the above? I'm not at all mechanically minded, and I expect the answer is "no", but no harm in asking!:dk:

best bet is to call and ask... if you have the platinum level of cover most items are covered.

My warranty states that it covers the following components of the Electronic Control Unit and states that this includes the "ignition system". They are now refusing to pay up, stating that the switch is separate from the ECU and therefore not covered under the warranty.

Could someone tell me whether this is correct?
