2003 ML270 Silver
I am a very new (not a week yet) owner of a Mercedes ML270, i think i may need a hug, as starting to regret buying the car, its only done 36,000 miles, which is documented. So far, esp/bas light on, tracking out, tyres giving horrible ride (general grabber things 275/55/17) issue with locking not blinking three times when locked. now i have discovered.........
The carpet is damp/wet just by the drivers door, for about 4 inches in, and heads up towards fuse box.
IT DOES NOT HAVE A SUNROOF !!!!!
It almost feels like heavy condensation, but its wet. (yes, was a private purchase, but paid a dealers price due to low mileage and one owner.) I hope i have not bought a pup

Any thoughts

What year is it?
Did you have any type of (AA / RAC) check done on it?

When you say the tracking is out, I presume you mean it's pulling to one side? Is it the left? That's a common Mercedes issue, and can be resolved.
I'd first do a check online for any previous accidents. If that's all clear, book yourself an alignment at 'Wheels-inmotion' at Chesham. They'll sort out the pulling.
If your check comes back with previous accidents, the problem may be more serious :(

Either way, find the source of the leak - it may, or may not have something to do with the error messages.

Could be many things because water migrates - door seals- heater/aircon drains- poor body repairs - but my favorite a poor windscreen replacement. Time to get those carpets up!

Where did you buy the car from?

Private or dealer?

Sorry, just read your post again but properly.

Thanks for replies. I have owned landrovers for years. So I thought water leaks were behind me. Tracking iffy because steering wheel slightly off center which could be causing the SAS to report a fault.
Had it tracked and explained the problem, sadly when I picked it up,still slightly out
Did not have heart to go back again.
No. Did not have any checks done before purchase but did research vehicle myself as far as I could

Carpets out and puff loads of talcum powder around.

The track of the water getting in should be reasonably obvious...

Ok, really thought my days of water leaks were overbuying a Merc. It rained last night, very little water in car, just inboard of the drivers sill. Just enough to make carpet damp, not wet.
Can some one tell me, is there a drain tube from under the scuttle were wipers are. Wonder if it's blocked slightly so a build up of water is getting in car. It's not damp anywhere near fuse box.
