Further to my previous posts, I went to see this 280CE yesterday and after a thorough inspection I ended up drinving it 220 miles home! :D

Had a great trip from London to Harrogate getting admiring glances from drivers of more modern Benzes.

I'll post up some decent pics as soon as we have some clear weather.

It's nice to be a proper member of the gang!

Cheers and thanks for all the help so far...

Cheers!

Glad you all like her - I certainly do!

I'm sure I'll be posting more with a few questions etc soon.

Levi :)

Well done - nice car!

(shame about the lump in the background though :D )

Nice looking car, well done.

Well done, gorgeous looking car. Maybe one day I'll buy a W123 CE, I love the shape of these. :bannana:

Congrats on what can only be described as a true classic. I went with a customer today to view a W126 280. VERY good condition for its age (1978) with minimal rust (non in the critical areas). Bought for £700. The engine and auto box are just like out of the factory. I was envious.

Very nice - like mine! If you have any problems with water leaks or vacuum, give me a shout as I had to sort this out on mine.

Cheers Stever

I'm keeping an eye out for any leaks but I was thinking of gradually replacing the window rubbers bit by bit - have you got any tips for replacing the rubbery bits?

I've been going round the car clearing out the drains etc and I think I've got them all covered so far

If your car has water leaks, the rubbers are unlikely to be the main cause, with the exception of the front and rear screen seals. It's usually drain cavities & tubes that give the problems. I should forewarn you that some of the rubbers are heroically expensive - make sure you're sitting down when you ask for a quote! I've done the scraper seals & door seals on my car which were pretty straightforward as I recall. I've also run silicone sealant under the rubbers on the front and rear screens.
