Wet look tyres

As a amateur detailer all I can advise is, it's all in the preparation.

You have to make sure the tyres are clean before applying any sort of tyre gel. I use a 5:1 mix of APC and a good brush to make sure the tyres are as clean as I can get them, apply the first layer of Zaino Tyre Gloss and let it dwell for half an hour then apply a second coat.

Yep use this myself about the best on the market, halfords also sell a small black tyre sponge with cap for putting on the gel I have used for months and its still great condition.
Another vote for Megs Endurance from me.

It only seems to flick up onto the wheel arches and bodywork if the car is used soon after dressing the tyres.

I apply it with the sponge bit of a block-type kitchen scourer, but always wear latex gloves in order to avoid blackened fingers and fingernails........

After a visit to an MB dealer who shall remain nameless, my tyres were very shiny. A few days later, my wheelarches and bodywork around the wheels were covered in black spots. I suspect they used old engine oil...
I suspected the same when I washed my car today for the first time since its service. The tyres had stayed nice and shiny but washing the wheels left my sponge black as ... erm ... a very black thing! Whatever they used I don't recommend it!

I'm not massively impressed with the nanotech stuff. Looks good for a couple of days but soon disappears.

OK, can I add another factor?

I'm a fan of Megs Endurance, and I used it on both cars yesterday.

BUT when I put Mrs B's Skoda in the carport, I left it with a handfull of right lock. Guess what, she's just walked past it, caught her leg on the front wheel, and it's left a huge black mark on her clothes. I know it washes out, 'cos I've done the same, but is there a product that makes the tyres look as good as this that won't rub off?

I usually give the tyre wall a scrub using engine degreaser and a hard brush to remove the old stuff and and build up of dirt. I find this prevents the flick off that would usually occur.

For me there are only two types;

-Swissvax PNEU

-Dodo juice supernatural tyre dressing

Both put on with a paint brush, both dry very matte like a standard new tyre look, zero sling and both last a very long time on a well prepared tyre. As the guy said above its all on the prep. Use a decent degreaser and scrubbed with a tyre scrubbing brush with hot water and rinse off with a jet washer. Looks perfect:)
