what are the signs/symptoms of failed supercharger

heard a funny sound this morning from engine lasting 2 seconds, now the car drives like its lost 25% power, no engine light

What car?

I would expect a failed supercharger would be pretty catastrophic, so it is more likely to be a bypass valve or supercharger clutch. When a supercharger stops I would expect it to be really noticeable, i.e. 50% power loss.

What was the sound you heard, can you describe it?

c180k 05, it sounded like a diesel engine (from inside anyway) for 2 seconds
