What Do I Do Stick Or Twist

Hi,

just had a reply back from Mercedes Uk, the 9g ATF is only scheduled for change at 77500 miles, and NOT at 5 years or 77500 miles.

This info would also be helpful for other w213 owners.
Why does the cynic in me think that MB might have changed the service reqt because too many people have been signing up for service plans to take into account the expensive filter and ATF changes, so moving to mileage-only will mean same income but far fewer cars needing the ATF change.

Servicing is a big money spinner now and now a significant number of MBs are on the heavily-promoted service plans so income is guaranteed, yet cost/value of the service will be reduced. Who gains?

I would do the same as you and have it changed.

I wouldn't pay any attention to the mileage only schedule either.
Merc were insistent that for the 7G+ it was only 77,500 miles. Then back tracked years down the line.
For the sake of £250 I would rather get it changed at 5 years if mileage is low, safe in the knowledge that it will at worst do no harm, and at best either provide preventative maintenance or provide the highly regarded Independent Mercedes Specialist a chance to look at the fluid and contents that comes out during the oil change and possibly alert to problems before they become very expensive.

But if saving £250 is high on someone's agenda (I don't know, because they are paying a shed load out on a huge new car depreciation hit), then every penny might count.

I’m not going to pay attention to the schedules, and will get it done at the 5 year point, at my indie.
On my W211 7g ATF change was 37k/ 5years, don’t know why they keep changing the schedules, but in the overall scheme of things it’s not that much to spend every 5 years.

I will keep the service plan, as even without the ATF, it still represents good value, but carry on using my indie for other remedial work.

B A B service (4th, 5th and 6th service) £400 per service.
2 brake fluid changes
Pano roof lubrication
Other service remedial items
Mobilo Cover.

Hi , I have a Mercedes service plan with my local dealership that I feel is good value for money.

However , When the mode takes me I take my car to a local Audi specialist who charges me a ball park figure of £200.00 for their full service using genuine Mercedes parts.

My car is over serviced but I just did just over 3000 miles at its annual MOT and short distance mileage requires extra servicing in my opinion.
