What do you recommend? Continental SportContact 6 or Michelin PilotSport4?

I have Conti's SC which have proved to be very good for many years.
It's time to buy new rubbers for my car.

Did anyone try the new Conti's SportContact version 6?
This is Continental's latest edition.
How do they perform?
Tires are they quiet, I hate noisy tires.
Long life rubber?
Rolling resistance, fuel economy?

Driving in wet, are they safe?

Conti's previous edition SC-5 didn't do perfect in tests.
The successors SC6 are they any better?

Or, perhaps I should try Michelin PilotSports4.
Perhaps Michelin's are even better than Conti SC6 tires?

I need feedback on on these tires.

I don’t think you could go wrong with either tyre but the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 is very very well regarded, so worth considering if available in the right size for your wheels.

I have Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres on one of my cars but someone who has driven the same car on both PS4 and PSC2 says that the dry weather performance is much closer than he would have expected, and that wet weather performance is much better on PS4.

To be close to the PSC2 on dry weather performance is incredible achievement for a road orientated summer tyre.
 
Michelin PS4. Brilliant.wont buy anything else again
 
PS4s get great reviews but I’ve done around 6k miles on a set of factory fit Continental SC6 and cannot fault them.

Performed well throughout the (mild) winter and doing very nicely in the warm spring we’ve been having.

I wouldn’t hesitate to buy either, Continental and Michelin both make excellent tyres, but if the sound level is your primary concern have a look at the EU tyre label ratings, should tell you what you need to know :thumb:

quietenes is deffinately a must on tires, can't stand tarmac noise.
Once tried GY Eagle's they were shite because of their V-pattern, looked cool but got very tired from them in my ears.
 
El Bimmer has PS4s fitted and they’re certainly grippy, but I’m a big fan of Contis so I’ll probably try those next time. I’m not happy with the BM’s ride, in comfort it’s a bit bouncy and in sport it’s a bit harsh. A change of tyres might be what it needs, just because the Pilots are OE doesn’t necessarily mean they’re the best choice. My Subaru was transformed when I threw the OE Bridgestones in the bin and fitted Goodyear GSD3’s.

Just had a full set of conti's put on. Non RFT.

So far, feel really planted. Only driven on them 10 miles :).
 
Is this on your C43?

It's the fast one who needs new rubbers, my other car still have some rubber to peel off

When people talk about rub issues.
I never really understood what people meant?

This morning, I checked my rear tires from the inside and there was a slight rub mark to the rear shox.
Is it common that tires rub on suspension components?
What is the culprit of this issue?
Tires being to wide?
I have 255/35/18 in the rear, with a slight rub.
Fronts has no issues.

How do I know my new rubbers won't cause me rub issues?
Rims are ET35 in the rear.
Car is lowered

Will MO (Mercedes Original) stamp on tires clear any rub issues, perhaps these tires are more within factory specs compared to same brand tires without MO stamp?

Which model and year is it?
 
If the car is lowered, have you got adjustable camber links on the rear?

If not, or not adjusted properly, the inside of the wheel/tyre will become closer to the shock absorber.

I’m guessing you’re running W210 E55 Monoblocks, as the standard W202 C43 rims only take 245 section tyres and have a slightly different offset :thumb:
 
Just that the Conti's don't wear as good .

Conti SC5 didn't do well in tests.
Perhaps this tire was a let down?

I had the SC3 for 6 years now, rears still have pattern but fronts are worn and have dry rot cracks.
Probably better buying new tires and doing a 4 wheel alignment then do a MOT test.

Tire guy told me MB with divided rear axles never get a proper wear on rear tires compared to cars with solid rear axles.
Divided rear axles gives you better ride comfort but also gives you uneven tire wear.
Doesn't matter how accurate the 4 wheel alignment is done.
That's what the tire guy told me.

If I buy new Michelin's PS4 and the 4 wheel alignment, the total will cost me approx £850 quids.
Sounds like a lot of money!
