Hello folks

What do you recommend for keeping the rubber doors seals nice and supple and black? Mine are in good physical condition but are grey and in the majority of places. They are also leaving a couple of white lines on the door where it compresses against the seal (camera won’t pick this up).

Cheers

Andy

^^^^^^What he says^^^^^^

I use it on all of mine and never had an issue, even in the very cold weather we had last year I could still open the doors on the Range Rover, which are notorious for freezing themselves together.

I do all the cars with it just before the cold sets in and one application lasts all the way through the winter months.

Thanks guys , does it bring the colour back into the seal too? Mine have gone grey and look tired :(

No, it's a clear liquid. You'd need some form of dye I suppose to blacken them up again, possibly a liquid shoe polish in one of those little squeezy dispensers or even tyre black? Just don't get in it with white pants on for a couple of weeks/months afterwards. :D

Incidentally, I buy my Gummi stuff from Mick's Garage, they usually have offers on.

Thanks Dave , just got two bottles ordered with free postage for £13.95 from Mick’s Garage , who is in Barnsley, could have got Paul (@Wheelnut58) to pick it up for me ;)

PS I’m a C63 owner, only got jeans so don’t own any white pants like you Elites :D

It keeps the seals coated with a silicon type material which does bring back some of the original colour.

(It isn't actually silicon though so isn't sticky or attracts dust etc)

Thanks. Sounds like it should be good for the seals on the panoramic roof too

Yes, that's where I use it. Saves a lot of creaking!

My old C63 pan roof never had any squeaks , the new one less so and it went into MB before I bought it to have a “sunroof service” , will get the gumifledge on it as soon as it arrives

An alternative is to use silicon spray, does the same job and has many other uses. I tend to use WD40's silicon spray (not to be confused with their normal WD40)

I've used it on all seals on the S204 and 968 cab for quite a few years, it's really good and a lot cheaper than the Krytox that others recommend (as in BMW for the problemmatic roof seals on the Eos)! I also buy from Micks Garage, best and cheapest place to buy, get 2 for little more than most sellers charge for 1!!

Micks garage was way cheaper than anyone else I could find :thumb:

Can’t fault Micks Garage for price or service, two bottles arrived today within 48 hours of ordering for £13.95 :thumb:

Great price!

Silicon spray. Spray onto a cloth then rub into the seals. It plumps up and reconditions any rubber.

I also use silicon spray on a cloth and last year was a god send when every one else was trying to get into their car I was defrosted and away in jig time.
