My car's booked in for its next service this Friday. When I booked it in, the service receptionist said that as it had an A service last time (just under two years ago) it will need a B service this time, plus brake fluid top-up and a new multi-filter. However, I noticed yesterday that the dashboard indicator says it needs an E service.

Question: is an E service basically a B service plus the extra bits mentioned above?

E Service will reflect the amount of time required to complete all jobs ie 5 hrs (A=1, B=2 etc)

E= expensive in all probability.;)

Mercedes-Benz ESS

Typically for me, I've provided a link to that site on here myself, but managed to forget all about it. :rolleyes:

Interestingly, it agrees with my dealership that my car needs a B service plus a combination filter and brake fliud, so I suppose they were using the same facility. I'll ring them tomorrow and see if they can explain why the car is asking for an E...

The 'B' reported by your dealer and the ESS link has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE LETTER ON ASSYST+. As stated above the service letter reported by the car is just a time estimate.

If you look at the 'A' and 'B' service sheets they list additional work dependent on the mileage/age and checks. The Assyst letter really just gives an indication of extra work (if any). So a D, E, or greater Assyst letter is likely to be a 'B' service with ATF change or spark plug change or some other mileage/age dependent work.

The system makes MB look stupid and I don't think the dealers really get it either so it makes them look stupid too.
