What is the difference between MB hydraulic oil part number 001 989 2103 12 and MB hydraulic fluid 000 989 9103 10 ?

What would happen if you mixed the two together ?

The first one is auto-transmission oil, the second one is the fluid for mb's with self levelling hydraulic suspension.

They are probably of different viscosities and operating parameters, etc, but why would you want to know the effect of mixing them?

Because he's already mixed them :(  :dk:

Because the self levelling fluid in my w126 needs a little top up and I have both of the fluids mentioned in my first post in my shed. Thanks for clearing things up for me.

Distributor in the United States:

both described as hydraulic oil for soft tops CLK and SL in 2001- my guess they are both the same-HOWEVER -it may be the seals in the units have different elastomers so unless MB tell you they are equivalent---- use the recommended one for your model.
