I have come across this image online. Does anyone know what the 4th button the propeller does in W212? This is blank in my car and I have not seen a W212 with all 4 functional buttons.Screen Shot 2022-09-03 at 14.15.40.png

Windscreen defogger?
The propeller must refer to a fan of some sort and the upward arrows a direction?

Just found that’s an auxiliary heater that can be timer set up to preheat the car. Probably popular in cooler countries. I wonder whether it was an option in the uk

Needed by the Germans, Scandis, Yanks & Canadians in Winter.
Only the Scots would need it over here.
It's either by remote control or by a timed departure set on a screen.
It'll drain your battery if you're not driving the car "normally" or "fully," so beware.
of it as the ICE equivalent of the EV cabin pre-departure warmer

Also known as Auxiliary or Stationary heater, "Webasto" (could be another brand). Fuel burning heater that can be remotely activated and operates when the car is parked. Can also give additional heat while driving before the engine is warm enough for cabin heating. At hot weather it cools the cabin. On a 212 would not run the AC, only the heater fan to bring cooler air from outside. Three leds to indicate an active timed start, cooling or heating. Option code 228.

Hi all newby here, I know this is an old thread but seems like some of the contributors seem to know about the stuff I need maybe ? I've had my Vito for around 3 yrs now and I have a Webasto Themo Top Water heater taken from a VW MPV and runs on W Bus, I already have the control side sorted in as much I have a W bus adaptor so I can start and stop the heater via a switch or timer. I'm looking to heat both the engine and cabin when the heater is on, IF anyone has installed one of these heaters into their Vito I would like to ask a few questions. Things like, do I need to use the Webasto water pump OR the existing MB one (which I believe is fitted?) the best place to connect the heater unit within the engine plumbing, I intend to fit an independent 5L fuel tank within the engine bay (room permitting) don't really want to have to drop the tank to get a fuel supply or if the tank does not have apump I could maybe use the return feed (if more than half way down the tank assembly) With the weather getting colder and colder now (currently minus -5.6 deg outside as I type this) this would be the time to get this project off the ground, basically ANY help from anyone that knows these webasto heaters, it would be gratefully received. I would also like some advice on how to best wire the heater motor control it (maybe via PWM controller) and find out things like, when I shut the engine off, I normally hear the heater flaps moving, will I get any air out of any of the vents or does it default to the windscreen and so on... again any advice. IF anyone has any info such as engine plumbing layout, wiring diagram etc... Thanks. I'm based in Bristol and disabled so it won't be an easy task for me to do this and may take me several weeks to complete unless anyone knows someone local who's - a. cheap, my budget is limited and b. knows what they are doing to my van. Thanks in advance.
