I have just become the proud owner of my first merc..a 1994 C200 sport!!!

It does not have a cigarette lighter but in the bottom centre console stowage area it has a strange socket with a flip cover....the socket looks like a thinner than normal cigarette lighter socket and has a copper clip inside.....erm, what is this socket for please?

I'm assuming so yes.....but does anyone know what connector I need for it to use something like a standard 3 way cigar lighter adaptor thingy?...looked on e-bay to no avail!

Have found the answer...looks like maplins part no A61FL will do the trick...then I can plug in a 3 way cig lighter adaptor.....an odd set up that a non smokers pack includes a 12v socket that you can plug a car lighter adaptor into!!???

The "ashtray delete" option gives you a Hella DIN power socket in lieu of a cig socket. You can purchase Hella DIN plugs and make your own power plug or you can purchase an adapter. These are not readily available in the US and I get mine from UK Ebay.

Std fit socket on most trucks for a 12 volt supply for the drivers gadgets phones etc, most also have a 24 volt one as well which sometimes causes confusion:D

Mines also got this socket and i have a small torch plugged into to it all the time.

And smoke or a flash as well...

 Say, on some newer cars, not Mercedes, I seen this socket supply 110VAC, and is labeled as such.
