Hello,

As I understand it the Avantgarde has more sporty suspension than the elegance - is this the case.

When I'm looking for parts (shocks and springs) I am being offered "sports" and non sports options. Should the Avantgarge be fitted with "sports" options, or are these for the much more high powered CLK's?

Second question - are anschler any good - or should I steer clear and stick with sachs or Monroe?

If you post or PM me your VIN, I can look it up on EPC and try to identify sports or non sports. (Option 486 is Sports Suspension).

My CLK is an Elegance and I prefer Sachs, though I get my Sachs parts from Germany to make sure they are genuine. (Same price as UK even including delivery, at least it was for last months pair of Sachs shocks for my E46).

Codger - i'll get that to you tomorrow - thanks!

On EPC accoreding to my reg I get both options hence me being a bit stuck.

They show Elegance options for my reg too.

You can't search EPC (MB's electronic parts catalogue) using reg only VIN. I think you mean ECP? Not known for the accuracy of their catalogue....

I found the difference.

The "sports" suspension has thicker anti roll bar and different struts. One way to spot these is to look at the thread of the roll bar link. If it has a 12mm thread connections at the ends then you have sports suspension. If you have thinner then it is standard.
