Here's where we're currently at:

Wheel is the definite winner - mainly because the plate was crap. To get a decent one containing my name etc I would have had to spend more than the car actually cost me!

Anyway - I'm speaking to a company about getting me a brand new wheel. Just got to wait and see how the £££ is at the end of the month after a trip to Florida and a stag do in Spain.

On a side note I have just got an email telling me I've won the vintage Omega Seamaster that I chucked a cheeky bid in on. It's a similar age to me too, but hopefully it's internals aren't as knackered!

I like plates but depends what you can afford and what it means. DS 1 I can't afford but I found one I liked with all my initials. I can turn corners with the the wheel I've got.

Have you looked for 'V6 P**' , that would look nice and wouldn't be too expensive.

A mate of mine picked up 'V8 ***' ( his initials ) for under £500 from the DVLA. It's on an S500 so is perfect.

What will you enjoy most, looking at the plate or the wheel?

I have to say , i like looking at my plate on the car :o , but then my steering wheel is bright red.

A nice plate does set the car off a treat , but it's got to be nice.

Only thing with that is, I'd have to only ever buy V6's for the rest of my life! Not necessarily a bad thing I know but.....

I'm not generally a fan of private plates but when this dropped in my lap for a Grand I thought it too good to miss.

I liked it on two counts.

1) It reminded me of my Mrs when she blows up! (Un-Exploded Bomb)
2) It's a good description of an AMG V8 power plant, which I plan to have at some point soon.

Chuckle.

A wheel to look at with a wrist showing off a new (old) watch!!!!

Ohhh I love watches!!!!

I'm excited about my new old Omega arriving. I'm going on holiday tomorrow do hopefully it'll be here waiting for me.

Then I've just got to decide what level I want to restore it to - get it looking brand new or keep it looking as it is. There's someone who will re-do all the gold plating for £65 and he's only just round the corner from me! Also someone who works with a friend of mine just serviced his dads old omega and put a new face in it for him for £180.
