whats all this clay bar'ing I hear about

Your best bet is to fold the clay after using on 1-2 panels with plenty of clay lube. This way it always stay clean. I believe the BH clay is large enough for 4-5 decent pieces of clay per bar.

Been using clay for a few years, used different ones.

The results are fantastic, it's very easy to do, and bilt hammer is my clay of choice. Water as the lube is so simple, you even clay if it's raining!

Use twice a year after thorough wash and cleanse (detar etc.) followed by a decent wax (currently using collinite liquid - not as durable as 476 but so easy to apply). Repeat every 6 months with a regular washing in between to keep things shiny.

I recently washed my car as follows: power rinse, power wash, power rinse, hand wash, power rinse, power wash, power rinse, hand wash, power rinse, detar, power rinse, hand wash, power rinse...

and then went over with the clay.

The amount of filth that still came off with the clay was unbelievable (although the car had been very dirty). It was so bad, I took a photo of it next to a nice new pack ready for next time (yes my wife caught me in the act and it was embarrasing).

I haven't uploaded from the camera, if I do I'll post it up and you see what the clay does.

The only thing to bear in mind is to use the clay carefully and use plenty of lubricant to prevent marking the paintwork, it's not a difficult process just respect what you're doing.

Regards, Neil

Will they do this at my local Tesco car park ?

How good is clay at removing over spray ?

Very good! Last year, half of my car (the saloon) from the bonnet, roof, doors and rear windows were covered in over spray after I had CKLClive paint the lower claddings the same colour as the bodywork. It really annoyed me to no end how he managed to get so much overspray all over!

I literally spent a whole entire day from early morning to late evening claying the entire car by applying medium/hard pressure (really depends how strong you are, im like a stick.. so i was really going for it), and you could see it slowly coming off. The trick here was plenty of lube (I used water in a spray bottle) but keeping the pressure equal.

I used Meguires clay bar, the results were amazing after. The next day I polished the entire car and then waxed it (Autoglym HD Wax). Literally looked like a complete respray!

Thought you weren't supposed to use any pressure when claying?

OP - if it's not raining when you use the BiltHamber....best advice is to use a spray bottle filled with water so you can lubricate each section before/while you clay it.

Never ever clay the car with rain water - rain forms around dust particles which will scratch the paint.

Always wash and dry and then use a spray bottle (in he Bilt Hamber case, with water in it), to wet the panel as you go.

It should feel as though the clay is floating over the surface. If it drags or sticks, use more water.

Don't forget to do the windscreen after the paintwork - makes a huge difference!

Top tip chaps, use Demon Shine as a lubricator for claying - it works really well and is a lot cheaper than specific lube. The spray bottles of it are only £5 in Halfrauds

I thought water was also recommended, a gallon of distilled water is much more of a bargain :)
