No such thing, there is only only A and B service. The dash indicator refers to the length of time needed to service so there will be some additional items on top of the A or B service that need attention for it to be showing 'F'.

Thank's I've just rang Mercedes and they gave me an initail price of £388 as it needs:-
Brake Fluid
Air Filter
Combination filter
Although she said she could knock 10% off straight away.... athough also said ' ooh I think I've missed something off its looking like £471.
So she is double checking and ringing me back....
My guess in my Indy with be at least half this but this car does have a FBMSH although I doubt now given its age and miles it means anything?

Have a look in your service book as to what is needed. It explains all in there. If the last one was minor this one will be major (B)

Brake fluid is a fairly expensive item on an SBC-equipped pre-facelift like yours. I don't know the V6, but the air and combo filters are quite cheap and can be changed in under 15 minutes with a flat-blade screwdriver to undo some clips and a single 10mm plastic nut on my E220CDI.

Do I have to have it all done to get the stamp?
I do know a good indie that I used for my ML and wifes A class. I would 'guess' they would be around £250 for the same service?
My car is a 2003 E320Cdi S211 FBMSH but now on 135K miles so doubt the full merc history helps?

Use an indie - at that mileage and year, MBSH is irrelevant.
For the same money, an indie would probably do a lot more. The air filters are around £40-50 iirc and theres two of them.

Having MBSH may not be as important as having Mobilolife, anyone who travels abroad or needs a recovery service will struggle to get the same value from an indie and a recovery service charge as is provided by a MB service and free mobilolife

Depends on the dealer. My dealer is fine about me doing stuff like filters, and I still get the stamp. Just ask before booking. Supply your own oil too.

It seems a shame in a way to lose the Mercedes Service history but agree at this age / value when I sell it its still got a FSH and had any work needed done.

I used to be a 'must have main dealer history' person.
That was until I found out a long time ago that independents in my experience do a more thorough job.
These days, it is more important to me that the service history of the car can be demonstrated and the car is running well.
Indeed mine was a mix of MB and inde - couldn't care less as long as what was said was done was done.
If the condition of your car is excellent, it should demonstrate that you care enough not to give it to any old shyte hole to service.

I bought my car at 6yr old with a full service history.
Little did I know at the time that the dealer would change into a **** when something went wrong under the warranty they gave me at time of purchase.
"But Sir, it wasn't serviced by an MB dealer but by an Independent."
My retort was simple.
"Book was stamped by that Independent before you sold me it. Fix it or refund me the purchase price - NOW"
It got fixed.

I can top that. A dealer sold me a car missing a service. That dealer is Mercedes Benz of Hull operated by Listers group. Had no difficulty in getting work done in tier one warranty though. All £1500 worth for two separate incidents. The car was described over the phone as FSH and sold under the approved used cars scheme.
