Wheel Cleaner

What is the opinion of Alloy Wheel cleaners, non acidic types.
Or does a decent car shampoo have the same results.

Personally I have never had any decent results with "just shampoo", so I stick to a non acidic cleaner.

Now, I am not one of these people that sits and polishes and details their car to death, so I don't use high end McGuires or what ever the best of the best is now-a-days. I use the basic Wilkinson's own brand cleaner and have always had decent results (not the foam stuff but the one in the pump bottle).

If there is anything more stubborn on the wheel then I use a little T Cut.

One tip, I was once told, once the wheels are clean, just go over them with a decent car polish (Autoglym is my favourite) and that keeps them cleaner for longer.

Bilt Hamber, as recommended by Michael at Gemclean.

It can still be used even though my wheels have a Gtechniq C5 coating (according to Gtechniq).

I only ever use the same shampoo I use on the rest of the car. I apply it with Wheel Woolies so no risk of scratching, then hose off. The wheels come up like new every time.

I too only use shampoo once wheels are deep cleaned and then sealed, makes cleaning them afterwards so much easier.

Sick of getting splatted using EZ brush and have been dithering whether to get Wheel Woolies but no longer they are cheaper than the T shirts I keep ruining!

Dodo juice supernatural.....wont damage the finish and gets just about everything off......

Only stuff i use on alloys these days.

;)

+1 Valet Pro Bilberry is my choice for a sealant friendly cleaner.

For hard tar spots a little farecla g3 does the trick mate

Hi, Thanks for all your replies, I have ordered a litre of Bilberry and see how it goes.

Auto finesse "Imperial" then Auto finesse "Mint Rims"

Clean your wheels "last" if the one or two bucket method used, sad as it is I have a separate bucket for wheels and a separate wash mitt so as not to contaminate the wash water.

I always clean my wheels first then after hosing them off I thoroughly clean out the buckets before doing the bodywork.

Im probably the only one who uses that Autoglym Clean Wheels malarky :|
