Every time I am putting a back wheel on a SL, it is a real wrestling match. Years ago I recall having a gadget which was about 6" long and which screwed into the bolt hole. It allowed you to position the wheel and made fitting the bolts a lot easier. Has anyone ever seen such a gadget? Are they still available? I suppose , if it comes to it, I could always try and make one.

There should be one in the car's toolkit, but your post is telling me it's not there any more.

I've got several good used ones.

£5 mailed anywhere in the UK.

The one on my S211 is A204 581 00 74 and weighs next to nothing yet is really useful. Undermining neilrr's kind offer a bit, retail price appears to be about £3 from your dealer.

Thank you all for your helpful replies. I did an extensive search of the boot-guess what- I found the gadget ! It was lurking under the spare wheel which explains why I had an occasional rattle ! Thanks again.

Glad i looked at this thread, just been and looked in my boot and i have one, wouldnt have had a clue what it was for and i know i am easily pleased but there were also a little bag with spare fuses and a nice new pair of white gloves, all handy to know if i get a flat..

Ah, but does your tool kit have the spare fuse tweezers?
